Not many restaurants have been around since before I moved back to the Cape in 2010, what with the dizzying flow of new restaurants opening and closing each season, it’s comforting to visit a restaurant with a history. La Petite Ferme was purchased as a plum farm by the Dendy- Young’s in 1974, they later built a restaurant in 1984, employing all the plum farm workers in their new restaurant. Their son Mark continued their legacy adding a boutique hotel and winery to the portfolio. La Petite Ferme grew into a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike and now under new ownership remains a Franschhoek classic.
Perched on the climb up the Franschhoek pass it enjoys one of the best views of the Franschhoek valley. Its close proximity to the Franschhoek village itself makes for an ideal luxury stay and the restaurant is always a perfect lunch stop. They have either a 2 or 3 courses set menu option, accompanied by their own wines.The menu changes seasonally, here are a few of their winter favourites .
