Celebrate your birthday, anniversary or honeymoon in style on a bespoke wine tour

Go on, spoil yourself. Let me create the most indulgent day for you; let your imagination run riot...You'll be picked up and dropped off at your accommodation and be guided by your own personal host through the Winelands.

Babylonstoren in Paarl

On a recent honeymoon tour, we started the day with an early breakfast and garden walk at Babylonstoren. Perfect for the early riser, mover, and shaker who loves a healthy hearty breakfast followed by a little fresh air. Early morning is the best time to get there before the tour buses arrive and before it gets too hot (in summer).

Drink Methode Cap Classic

Drink some bubbly; in South Africa we call the good stuff Methode Cap Classique (it's sparkling wine made according to the Methode Champenoise used in Champagne) many estates have included MCC to their portfolio and several cellars are dedicated to it! Franschhoek is a good place to start as they have a concentration of great MCC producers and even have an annual bubbly festival.

Fine dining and wine and food pairings

Dine in style; a special occasion calls for a memorable dining experience. Let's combine great views or ambience with excellent cuisine, wine and service.The Winelands have plenty of great options available. These are some of the most popular: in Franschhoek:- Bread & Wine at Moreson, the Pierneef at La Motte, The Werf at Boschendal, Haute Cabrière Restaurant and terrace, La Petite Ferme, Ryan's Kitchen and The Kitchen @ Maison. In Stellenbosch: Rust en Vrede, Terroir at Kleine Zalze, Delaire Graff Restaurant, Jordan Restaurant, Overture at Hidden Valley and Tokara Restaurant.

Let's not forget the wine; I'll take you to some of the premium producers based on your specific preferences. Stellenbosch is our unofficial "wine capital" with over 150 cellars to choose from, it's the place to go for quality reds, Chardonnay or Chenin Blanc's. Stellenbosch is home to some of the largest most prestigious wineries but also has a number of smaller hidden gems that should not be missed.

private winemaker tastings

Want to amp it up, even more? We could include a private or specialised Vinotèque tasting. Vertical or other comparative tastings, interesting food and wine pairings are all available if you know where to look. Perhaps you'd like to include something other than just wine and food? We could explore one of the towns on foot, visit art galleries or museums or just take a step back and let the day flow without any agenda to follow.

Send me your wishlist and let's get planning!
