Now days you needn’t drink wine at all on a wine tour, especially on the
Stellenbosch wine route. Estates are upping there game with all sorts of offerings, here are some good suggestions that could be added to a day tour:
Beer
Several estates and independent breweries have opened up in Stellenbosch, a few that come to mind include Stellenbrau, Wild Beast Brewing Company, Wild clover, the Wagontrail brewery and Stellenbosch Brewing Company. They all offer tastings of their various brews and some include tours of the brewery on request.
Gin
The latest trend this summer is definitely the G&T and Blaauklippen Wine Estate have now added gin to their already impressive portfolio. At the estate you will be able to sample three hand-crafted gins from a 100% juniper gin, a citrus infused gin and a botanical infused gin which includes wonderful infusions of 7 botanicals such as buchu and rooibos.

Brandy
While you are already at Blaauklippen tasting their Triple3three gin, why not stick around for a taste of their pot still brandy and grappa. Other popular brandy distilleries include Van Ryn’s, which offer various tasting options but the chocolate and coffee pairing is especially good.
So there you have it Stellenbosch is the place to be, your biggest problem is finding enough time to do everything in a day!
